Dam project information
Welcome to the dam project information hub, provided by ECESS. We are dedicated to keeping residents informed and safe regarding the proposed dam and related safety concerns. Located in Waimakariri, Canterbury, we aim to provide a platform for your voices to be heard.

Addressing your biggest worries
Look at the flood map opposite....you need to be as concerned as we are about safe egress if a seismic event ruptures the earth walls of the dams.
ECESS understand the significant concerns locals have regarding the dam project. These include the personal safety of your family, the safety of your stock and assets, difficulties in obtaining flood insurance, and potential drops in property value. We are here to try to address these worries with accurate information and proactive solutions.

Essential things to know
If you could only learn three things about the dam right now, they should be: understanding the severity of the potential threat, reviewing new earthquake geological data recommending against construction, and knowing your personal evacuation plan. Your safety is our priority.

Take action: Attend our information meeting
Visit the Canterbury website to get more detailed data on fault zones as of 2024...new fault lines identified after the court's ruling! Can the dam construction continue with this new data???
We urge you to please attend our open public meeting on the 19th of January at the West Eyreton Hall, Cnr North Eyre and Downs Road. This is a crucial opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and voice your concerns directly. We look forward to seeing you there and working together to ensure our community's safety.
